수업의 주제는 Movie / Television이였다.

벌써 다섯번째 수업인데, 첫 수업과 비교해서 대화가 조금 자연스러워진 것 같은 느낌이 들어 굉장히 뿌듯했다.

1. Conversation Review

Ross : What are your favorite types of movies to watch? What do you enjoy to watch?

Me : My favorite movie is about romance or noir.

의도 : 저는 웬만한 영화를 다 재미있게 보는 편인 것 같습니다. 그 중에서 제가 특히 좋아하는 장르를 골라보자면 로맨스나 느와르입니다.
의도(English) : I think I enjoy watching just about any kind of movie, but my favorite genres are romance and noir.

 

Ross : Can you give me a good example of a noir movie you like?

Me : This is very famous Korean movie, which name is "New World".

의도 : 신세계라는 정말 한국에서 유명한 영화가 있는데, 제가 생각하는 최고의 느와르 영화입니다.
의도(English) : There's a really famous Korean movie called The New World, which I think is the best noir movie ever made.

 

Ross : What is the movie about?

Me : It is movie about some gangster's story.

의도 : 저도 본 지가 오래되어서 자세히는 기억이 안나는데, 아마 조폭들의 우정, 배신 등과 관련된 이야기였던 것 같아요. 경찰이 잠입해서 조폭 패거리에 들어가고, 그 속에서 여러 사건들을 파헤치는 이야기에요.
의도(English) :  It's been a while since I've seen it, so I don't remember the details, but I think it was a story about gangster's friendships, betrayal, and so on. It's about a cop going undercover and getting into a gang, and uncovering a bunch of stuff.

 

Ross : Is this a good one?

Me : Yes it is also very famous in 2022. And in "Narco-Saints", the main actor Hwang Jung Min is also very famous actor in Korea. And the "New World" what I mentioned before, there are so many top actors in Korea, so I really recommend you to watch this movie. It's very good.

의도 : Yes, this movie was very popular in 2022, and the lead actor of "Narco-Saints", Hwang Jung-min, is also a very famous and popular actor in Korea, and the movie I mentioned earlier, New World, has a lot of famous Korean actors, including Hwang Jung-min, and the story is very solid, so I highly recommend this movie.
의도(English) : 

 

Ross : So you like a lot of romance movies too. What is it about romance movies that you like?

Me : The first one is "About time" and the second movie is "Midnight in Paris"

의도 : 로맨스영화도 정말 많이 봤고 또 좋아하는데, 특히 슬픈 로맨스를 좋아하는 것 같아요. 대표적으로는 어바웃 타임이나 미드나잇 인 파리 같은 영화들이요.
의도(English) : I've also seen and love a lot of romance movies, especially sad romances, like "About Time" and "Midnight in Paris".

 

Ross : What do you like about those movies? What draws your attention to those type's of romance movies?

Me : I think I'm very emotional people, and when I watch some sad movies or romance movies, in that movie when some sorrowful scene or sad scene appear, I cry a lot. And crying while watching movie makes me feel better, because in my life I didn't cry a lot because I want to be a strong people who don't cry but I am very people inside so ..

의도 : 제 생각에 저는 굉장히 감성적이고 또 감정적인 사람이에요. 제가 슬픈 영화나 로맨스 영화 등을 볼 때, 영화에서 슬픈 장면이 나오거나 등장인물이 울면, 저도 같이 울어요. 그리고 그렇게 우는 것은 저로 하여금 슬픈 감정들을 다 해소할 수 있게 해줘요. 저는 되게 울음도 많고 감성적이지만 동시에 이를 겉으로 티내고 싶어하지는 않거든요. 이러한 것들을 슬픈 영화를 보면서 해소하는 것 같아요. 실제로 울고 나면 기분도 한 결 나아지고요.
의도(English) : I think I'm a very sensitive and emotional person, and when I watch a sad movie or a romance movie or 

something, if there's a sad scene in the movie or a character cries, I cry with them, and it's a way for me to get all of those sad feelings out, because I'm very cryy and very emotional, but at the same time, I don't want to show it, and I think I get that out by watching sad movies, and I actually feel better after I cry.

 

Ross : What do you like about that movie?

Me : Actually I like "Midnight in Paris" more than "About Time". I like this movie, because the indicator of this movie " Woody Allen" and I think he tends to give so many message to the watchers. So I watch that movie "Midnight in Paris" six times, and whenever I watch it again, I felt some new things.

의도 : 사실 저는 어바웃 타임보다는 미드나잇 인 파리를 더 좋아하고 재밌게 봤어요. 이 영화가 정말 좋았던 이유는, 영화의 감독인 우디앨런이 관객들에게 주고자 하는 메시지가 너무 와닿았고 또 많았거든요. 이 영화를 총 6번 정도 봤는데, 처음 봤을때는 예술 영화인 줄 알았는데, 그 다음에 볼 때는 사랑 영화로 느껴지고, 마지막에는 인생의 깨달음을 줄 정도로 많은 걸 알려준 영화에요. 특히 이 영화를 보고 생긴 제 가치관이 있는데, 바로 "모든 선택에는 후회가 생길 수 있고, 내가 할 수 있는 최선은 내 선택에 후회가 생기지 않도록 매사에 최선을 다하자"는 거에요. 이 가치관은 아직도 저에게 굉장히 큰 영향을 주고 있어요.
의도(English) : I actually liked and enjoyed Midnight in Paris more than About Time, because it had so many messages that Woody  Allen, the director of the movie, wanted to give to the audience. I watched this movie about six times in total, and the first time I watched it, I thought it was an art movie, the next time I watched it, I thought it was a love movie, and the last time I watched it, it taught me so much about life. In particular, I have a value that I developed from watching this movie, which is "every choice you make can be regretted, and the best thing you can do is to do your best to avoid regretting your choices," and it still has a huge impact on me.

 

Ross : So it's romantic movies and the sad movies that you prefer the most, is there anything that you dont't really enjoy watching?

Me : Actually, I don't like musical movie.

의도 : 저는 뮤지컬 영화는 별로 좋아하지 않아요. 예전에 영화관에서 레미제라블을 본 적이 있는데, 그 때 지루해서 졸았어요.
의도(English) : I'm not a big fan of musicals - I once saw Les Misérables in the theater, and I fell asleep from boredom.

 

Ross : What is it about musicals you don't careful or like?

Me : Actually, I like the most of the movies but musicals I didn't think musicals is as fun as the others.

의도 : 영화에서 노래를 부른다는 컨셉이 별로 흥미롭지 않고 나쁘진 않지만 다른 영화들이 더 재밌는 것 같아요.
의도(English) : I don't find the concept of singing in a movie very interesting and it's not bad, but I think other movies are more interesting.

 

Ross : Do you have any other recommendations for me on movies or TV shows that I should watch?

Me : I really like romance movie but you said you don't like it so let me think about it. Do you know "King's man"? I saw it for 5 times. It's really good to me.

의도 : 저는 로맨스영화를 정말 좋아하는데, 당신이 로맨스 영화를 별로 안 좋아한다고해서 고민이 되네요. 잠시 생각해 볼게요. 혹시 "킹스맨"이란 영화를 아시나요? 이 영화도 역시나 5번 정도 봤는데, 저는 정말 재미있게 봤어요.
의도(English) : I really like romance movies, and I've been contemplating because you say you don't like romance movies. Let me think about this for a second. Do you know the movie "King's man"? I've seen it like five times, and I really enjoyed it.

 

Ross : What is the reason you think I might like it?

Me : Actually there are not specific reason, but the "King's man" just suddenly come to my mind.

의도 : 딱히 특별한 이유는 없는데, 킹스맨이 갑자기 뇌리를 스쳐갔어요.
의도(English) : There's no particular reason, but King's man just popped into my head.

 

Ross : So for the last question on this conversation, is there anything that you would like to tell me about either movie or TV shows that you think is interesting that I haven't asked about yet.

Me : I also didn't like the series movie like Marble Series, Dr Strange that kinds of series. It is also not bad but not so good because the series movie have to watch the prior series, so when I didn't watch the prior one, I'm little bit hard to understand the full story.

의도 : 저는 마블 시리즈 같은 시리즈물도 별로 좋아하지 않아요. 왜냐하면 시리즈물은 영화 한 편을 이해하기 위해서 이전 작품들을 다 봐야하고, 혹시라도 내가 보지 않은 작품이 있다면 이해에 어려움이 있을 수 있기 때문이에요. 물론 그래도 해리포터 같은 시리즈는 이전 작품을 안봐도 이해하는데 크게 어렵진 않지만, 굳이 엄청 선호하진 않아요.
의도(English) : I'm not a big fan of series like the Marvel series because I have to watch all the previous movies to understand a movie, and if I haven't seen any of them, I might have trouble understanding it. Of course, Harry Potter isn't too hard to understand if I haven't seen the previous movies, but I'm not a big fan of it.
